Externally, the SOO’s ten Cat units all featured completely new and taller carbodies and cabs, inertial air filtration systems, and lube waste oil retention tanks below the conductor’s side sill. The GP30cs are easily recognizable by their unique dynamic brake housing and wide radiator fan spacing while the GP15Cs are best recognized by their classic GP9-style fuel tank and air reservoir setup, spartan hoods lacking dynamic brakes and the use of smaller GP9 radiator grilles and fans. Both units depicted here feature fuel tender hose pilot connections and GP15C 4106 has additional connections for slug operation.
